Moonlight & Dust: Why Witches and Cowboys Belong Together

How did a witch and a cowboy mesh so effortlessly? How did we understand each other on such a deep level? On the surface, they seem like opposites. One is associated with moonlight and magic, the other with dust and daylight. But the more I think about it, the more I realize they have far more in common than most people would imagine.

Both witches and cowboys share a deep connection to nature and animals. My cowboy used to say he liked cows more than people because you always knew what to expect from them. There was honesty in that. No games, no hidden motives. Just a simple respect for living things and the natural world around them.

Both believe in ritual.

Whether it's a morning ride before sunrise, tending a garden by the moon phases, or brewing coffee the same way every day, there's comfort in tradition. There's a certain way to do things. Intention matters. Presence matters. The smallest actions become meaningful when performed with care.

Both understand the seasons of life.

They know there is a time for growth, a time for rest, a time for action, and a time for waiting. You can't rush a harvest, and you can't force a flower to bloom before it's ready. Mother Nature moves at her own pace, and both witches and cowboys learn to respect that. Patience isn't weakness—it's wisdom.

Both are familiar with sacrifice.

They often carry burdens quietly for the sake of others. They do what needs to be done without asking for recognition. In fact, you'd probably never know the sacrifices they've made. Humility is woven into who they are. They show up, they do the work, and they keep going.

And perhaps most importantly, both believe in leaving things better than they found them.

A cowboy cares for the land, the animals, and the people depending on him. A witch seeks healing, growth, and connection. At their core, both are guided by service, stewardship, and love.

So when you really think about it, it makes perfect sense that a cowboy and a witch would fall in love.

What began as a chance encounter became something much bigger—a reminder that kindred spirits can find each other in the most unexpected places. Different paths, same values. Different stories, same heart.

Our hope is that the love, light, wisdom, and resilience that brought us together can find its way to those who need it most.
